Spectrum Consulting Engineers Ltd is a structural engineering company based in Wellington. We provide engineering services for commercial and residential developments in New Zealand. Our engineers have extensive experience on challenging commercial projects worldwide and within New Zealand.

Our approach is to first ensure we fully understand our clients needs, what matters most to them and the particular way they prefer to operate. Our services are then tailored to the specific requirements of each client and we take a hands-on approach to deliver them.

With each new project, we maintain and develop already strong working relationships with architects, project managers, contractors and builders and other engineering disciplines.

Our Services

New structural design
Spectrum engineers have vast experience using innovative building technologies and a complete understanding of structural analyses. Our engineers continually develop their knowledge and skills over a range of analysis methods covering linear to non-linear, static and dynamic. The structural system for each project will include the design of ductile structures or modern, low-damage, seismic resilient structures, according to the objectives of each project and developer.

Seismic assessment
We understand the importance of seismic assessments and their effect on building owners and occupants. Spectrum engineers have assessed many buildings throughout Wellington and surrounding areas covering both the Initial Seismic Assessment (ISA) and Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA) procedures for one-storey to multi-storey buildings. 

Seismic strengthening
Spectrum engineers design efficient and robust engineering solutions to upgrade buildings to a target %NBS rating (Percentage of the New Building Standards) using sound engineering techniques and judgement. We pride ourselves on staying connected with our projects until construction is completed to ensure that the design principles have been correctly implemented onsite.

Construction monitoring
We undertake the construction monitoring of the structural aspect of construction to ensure that the structural design intent is going to be met according to the conditions of the Building Consent when the works are complete. We provide Construction Monitoring levels CM2, CM3 and CM4 (refer to Engineering NZ guidelines). We do not undertake construction monitoring of low importance structures which may require monitoring level CM1. We can provide Construction Monitoring services to CM5 level for major and critical projects only with a special agreement specific to the project.
